The completely custom nitrogen system

STEINEL manifold plates are designed to meet customer-specific requirements and comprise a lower plate with integrated nitrogen buffers, space-saving pressure cylinders and control panels. The nitrogen tank's large volume allows for a very low force increase. Manifold plates are particularly suitable for high-performance tools with high densities, a high number of cycles, high initial force requirements and extremely high requirements in terms of precision and lifetime.

High efficiency thanks to minimal force increase

Volume boreholes in the lower plate, which serve as nitrogen buffers, increase the nitrogen volume compared to that in the nitrogen cylinders by a factor of several times, thereby preventing high gas compression when the piston moves. The advantages:

  • Very low force increase even at high strokes,
    typically about one third compared to nitrogen cylinders
  • Constant force development
  • Pressure increase of only approx 20 %
  • Low temperature increase

Properties such as low pressure increase and components such as integrated burst protection, control panels and pressure control switches mean that TÜV-approved manifold plates from STEINEL, which have a filling pressure of up to 150 bar, meet the highest safety requirements. As closed components, our manifold plates are very compact and can be incorporated into extremely complex tools with no problem. They are also very low maintenance thanks to their lack of sealing points and tubing.

Should the requirements for a low force increase continue to rise, the nitrogen tank can be expanded by connecting an external storage buffer.

STEINEL also offers a particular type of manifold plate in the form of machine-integrated die cushions. The spring forces are transmitted through guide pins to the correct location in the tool. With operations in the three-digit million range, a very high number of cycles and a very low mass to be moved, nitrogen die cushions from STEINEL are clearly superior to conventional compressed-air die cushions in terms of dynamics, durability and heat generation.
