Your apprenticeship to become a machinist at STEINEL

Turning, milling, grinding – during your apprenticeship to become a machinist, you will undertake the machining of metal pieces or create assembly groups from individual components.

  • Duration of training: 3.5 years
  • Vocational school: Villingen-Schwenningen
  • Required school-leaving qualifications:
    completion of a secondary school-leaving certificate with good grades (German Hauptschulabschluss or Mittlere Reife)

Your tasks

  • Following the receipt of a production order, you will plan out the production process and then carry out the work – either manually or (nearly always) mechanically.
  • To ensure that a precision part can be produced as requested, you must carry out precision programming at the production centre beforehand and professionally chuck the metal piece that is to be machined.
  • You will monitor the production process. Despite all the due care taken, you may nevertheless detect a problem. In such an event, you must pinpoint the cause, remedy the issue and then check the quality of the produced part.
