Your apprenticeship to become a machinist at STEINEL
Turning, milling, grinding – during your apprenticeship to become a machinist, you will undertake the machining of metal pieces or create assembly groups from individual components.
Duration of training: 3.5 years
Vocational school: Villingen-Schwenningen
Required school-leaving qualifications: completion of a secondary school-leaving certificate with good grades (German Hauptschulabschluss or Mittlere Reife)
Your tasks
Following the receipt of a production order, you will plan out the production process and then carry out the work – either manually or (nearly always) mechanically.
To ensure that a precision part can be produced as requested, you must carry out precision programming at the production centre beforehand and professionally chuck the metal piece that is to be machined.
You will monitor the production process. Despite all the due care taken, you may nevertheless detect a problem. In such an event, you must pinpoint the cause, remedy the issue and then check the quality of the produced part.
